All work at Thong Mechanism begins with observation and conversation. Before any tools are picked up, we examine the watch, discuss what the owner has noticed, and describe what we see. The scope of work is agreed, the price is stated, and only then does the service begin.
Each service has a defined scope, but we don't treat watches as interchangeable. A 1960s Swiss automatic and a 1980s Japanese quartz may both present with similar symptoms but require different responses. That distinction matters to us, and it shapes the work accordingly.
Whatever the service, a written note accompanies the watch on collection — recording what was found and what was done. This becomes part of the watch's history and helps inform decisions about its care in future.
Watch Wellness Check
A short, attentive assessment of your watch's condition and timekeeping. We inspect the case, seals, and movement function, clean the exterior, and advise on anything worth attention. Suited to owners who want reassurance about a daily piece.
Typically completed within a few days, you leave with a written note of findings — and a clear picture of whether anything further is needed.

A full clean and recalibration for mechanical watches running slow or fast. We disassemble the movement, clean and lubricate all components, replace worn parts where needed, and regulate timing. Includes a basic water-resistance check and a written summary.
With a typical turnaround of around two weeks, this service addresses the underlying cause of timekeeping issues rather than adjusting symptoms at the surface.
